Over the course of three decades, Luke Buchanan and Ollie Wagner have been making art and making each other laugh. Though their individual styles have morphed and matured, their dedication to their craft and their friendship has remained fast. Buchanan is a graduate of the College of Design at N.C. State. His work captures both space and memory, highlighting the inescapable connection between our feelings and our surroundings through collage of photographs and personal miscellanies. Wagner, who recieved his BFA from the Corcoran College of Art and Design and a MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Art Boston, uses a combination of mixed media to evoke feelings of vibrant nostalgia and poignant reflection. In 2020, Buchanan will be one of 25 artists featured in Front Burner: Highlights in Contemporary North Carolina Painting at the NCMA and Wagner’s work will be on view at the CAM Raleigh.
